Meet the Teachers

Candace Kinslow
Seedling's

I am Candace Kinslow and I will be teaching the Seedlings class.  When I went to college, I had a very tough time deciding what I wanted to do since I wasn’t going to be a doctor.  I wanted to be a Mom and decided I couldn’t do both well (I tend to be a workaholic).  I love children and thought I would like to teach, but I also loved taking care of people.  I majored in nursing and have been a Labor and Delivery Nurse for 16 years.

My oldest daughter Olivia was born at 26 weeks weighing 1# 12oz.  She spent 11 weeks in the NICU.  Today she is a happy 2nd grader at Mary Castle Elementary.  When she was two years old her First Steps Case Manager suggested preschool to help with language development. Through a nurse at work, I found Geist Orchard. I love cooperative preschool!  I have loved watching my children learn and interact with their friends, and I love helping in the classroom.  I have also met people who will be life long friends.  My middle child, Joseph, is starting kindergarten this year, and Nathan, my youngest, will be a Twig.

Even as adults, we can learn as we watch the children play with play dough or paint and then have them explain why they did something in a certain way.  I love watching the children as they change over the course of the year.  We don't have them sit down and write their letters, and yet, somehow by the end of the Twig year they can all write their names.  Joseph's 'J' was still backwards at the end of the year, but he couldn't even identify his name that first year.  I love being a part of my child's education and I hope all of the parents find that they do as well.

I have always loved teaching and working with children.  I am excited about the opportunity to teach this year in the Seedlings class.  We will play and paint and sing and dance.

I hope you are ready to have some fun and get messy.

Morgan Bitz
Sprouts & Twigs

Hi! My name is Morgan Bitz and I am the Sprout and Twig Teacher.  I love working with children, no matter the age or need.  I studied Special Education and Deaf Studies.  I have worked with children since I was 12 years old; volunteering with my church, then working in different schools, from preschool age to high school.  I love preschool age because their imagination is beginning to take off on wonderful adventures.  I believe play is critical to a child’s growth, the more the better!

I am excited to be teaching at GOCP and looking forward to a great year!
